Khalid H. Arar, Ph.D. is a Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy, Education and Community Leadership, School Improvement Doctoral Program, College of Education at Texas State University. His comparative and international cutting-edge research program is rooted at the nexus of equity, social justice, diversity, and inclusion while covering the following main scopes: Women in leadership; social justice and ecological leadership for educational change; development of educators’ careers and professionalism through equity and diversity lens; and finally, immigration, refugees, diverse cultures, and educational policy. For the past two decades, he has conducted studies in the Middle East, Europe, the Mediterranean, and North America. Using the same academic prism, he has led different international research groups and oversaw the publication of seven transnational special issues (2018-2023) in leading journals, 17 monographs, 12 international edited volumes, 62 reviewed book chapters, and more than 150 journal articles in his field, and received numerous grants for his research. He has delivered 41 invited talks at different international universities, 23 keynotes at scholarly conferences around the globe, received outstanding paper awards from 4 other international journals, and was nominated for AERA Social Justice Scholar Award in 2021, 2022, and 2024. His book: School Leadership for Refugees, was a winner of Routledge’s prestigious choice Outstanding Academic Title in 2021. Dr. Arar has served on eleven international scholarly conference boards. Only in 2023, he was extremely productive in receiving four major scholarly awards, receipt of AERA, Division A-Administration, Organization and Leadership, Excellence in Research Award, AERA, Presidential Distinction for Excellence in Scholarly/Creative Activity, College of Education, Honorary Professor of International Studies, Best Book Honorable Mention Award, Comparative and International Education Society (CIES), being invited to deliver a keynote talk at four major international conferences, British Educational Leadership, Management, and Administration Society Annual Conference (Belfast, Ireland), 100 Anniversary of Public Education at the Republic of Turkey (Bursa, Turkey), Towson University (Baltimore, US), and American University (Washington, US). Being named on Stanford’s Top 2 % Scientists list. In 2024 he was the recipient of the Bridge People Award by Leadership for Social Justice, AERA.  Prof. Arar has served on amble of international scholarly conference boards; he is on the editorial board of 12 scholarly journals editor-in-chief of Leadership and Policy in Schools, and associate editor of the Journal of Educational Administration and History, and Equity in Education and Society. He is the Lead Convener of the World Education Research Association International Research Network, and lead Editor of the Routledge Book Series Education for an Equitable, Resilient, and Sustainable Future.
