Objectives

The “Leadership & Innovation” lab of the University of West Attica with the distinctive title “L & I” and with the international name “The Leadership & Innovation Lab” and the distinctive title “L & I Lab” is an integral part of the School of Administrative, Economic & Social Sciences of the University of the West Attica. It serves a number of educational and research needs such as the study of the phenomenon of leadership in public and private organizations & businesses, the management and development of human resources of social organizations, the promotion of innovations and changes in social organizations, the theoretical study of innovation issues, research and adoption in social organizations, the study, analysis and application of sustainable leadership in educational organizations, the study and optimization of the possibilities of simplifying bureaucratic processes by exploiting innovative approaches and new technologies.

The lab uses quantitative, qualitative and experimental methods to collect and analyse the relevant topics under investigation that affect in many ways the Global Economy, the Society and the educational process, with the ultimate goal of drawing critical conclusions and connecting them to human behaviour.

Through the operation and synergies of the lab, the sustainability and efficient operation of organizations can also be ensured both at national and international level, contributing to the strengthening of the organizational / operational capacity to introduce significant changes with the least possible resistance and the methodical connection of the concepts’ leader and innovation.

 

The main objectives of the workshop are:

  1. The support at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level of the teaching and research needs of the School of Administrative, Economic & Social Sciences Department and other Schools and Departments of the University of West Attica in topics that fall within the Lab’s academic subjects.
  2. The support of doctoral and postdoctoral research in topics related to the teaching and research subjects of the Laboratory.
  3. Conducting studies related to the broader fields of leadership and innovation with a special focus on the domestic social organizations and the support of the various economic and social needs.
  4. Cooperation of any kind with Research Centers and Academic Institutions with relevant research objectives both domestically and internationally.
  5. The cooperation with: bodies of the wider public sector, local government organizations, scientific social and professional bodies, international organizations or societies as well as productive bodies of the private sector in the relevant scientific fields, in order to contribute to the joint investigation of solutions and proposals when dealing with contemporary problems.
  6. The members of the lab can provide their expertise in a number of issues related to the knowledge objects of the Laboratory, in accordance with the existing legislation.
  7. The provision of services to individuals and organizations in accordance with the requirements of the Presidential Decree 159/1984 (Government Gazette 53/τ.A΄/27.4.1984): conditions for the provision of services by university laboratories to individuals and organizations of any legal form.
  8. The organization of scientific lectures, workshops, seminars, symposia, conferences and other scientific events, the realization of publications and editions and the invitation of internationally recognized Greek and foreign scientists.
  9. The promotion of teaching and research synergies between professors and researchers with related or complementary scientific fields of specialization within the University of West Attica.
